Last Sunday at CDM, many members were attacked by the purplewearitis virus. It is not a serious virus, but can be contagious. The virus causes members to select purple articles of clothes to wear to church and feel very nice and pretty. Look below at the effects.

2010 Ladies Spring Luncheon
It has been over a week already, but I have not posted any news on how the Ladies Spring Luncheon went. Those who came will know that it went very well and God has blessed Charlotte Deaf Mission with so wonderful a group of godly women whose heart is truly for others. We had nearly 150 women not including the 15 men who worked as servants. Everything went well and the silent auction raised a total of $1140.00 for missions. Dawne Barnes had a wonderful message and everyone I spoke to was very pleased with the message. I would like to thank all, though belatedly, for being a part of this. When pictures come my way, I will post here as well.

Tim Hackney
We had the wonderful pleasure yesterday to listen to Tim Hackney, grandson of the FBC Deaf Mission founder, William Hackney, at our Wednesday evening meeting. After about a year of finding nothing but a few bits of information here and there, we had finally found someone who not only knew Mr Hackney, but was related to him as well. This was a nice preparation for our upcoming 100th anniversary celebration in 2011. Thank you, Tim!
If any of you missed the meeting, you can view it on the “about” page: http://www.charlottedeafmission.org/about.html

Kinna’s new cast
On Monday, Tonja and I took the kids to Hornet’s Nest Park to let them and us enjoy a great escape from the cold days of winter. After about 5 minutes on the ground, Kinna fell off her scooter and hurt her wrist. She was a good sport despite the pain and Tonja took her to the clinic to check for broken bones. Sure enough, one was broken and another fractured. Today, she got to go and have a colorful cast fitted and now she is proud of herself for being brave and so are we.
Edit: Gotta be careful posting these messages from my pager… too many errors…
